WHY WE LOVE DRUNK MUMS

WITH TERRY DOYLE

As we approach summer Cairns will be hotting up in more ways than one with a heap of great shows and concerts coming to town.

On the horizon are such great acts as ‘Regurgitator’ performing at the Tanks Arts Centre on Friday 11th October celebrating twenty-five years since their first release. Also the legendary Glen Millar Orchestra will grace the stage of the Cairns Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 12th of October as well the globe-trotting veterans ‘Smokie’ will stop by on Tuesday 12th of November at the same venue. Country music’s Kasey Chambers will perform at The Tanks Arts Centre on Friday the 29th of November and the list goes on.

But closer to home, Melbourne-based ‘Drunk Mums’ will return home after four years away for a big show at North Cairns Tiger’s Football and Netball Club Manunda on Friday October 18th.

Originally from Cairns, the four-piece band are all former Cairns High students and started their music journey at the infamous Johnno’s Blues Bar and the prodigal sons return home after five years touring Australia and overseas.

Fresh from completing a successful twenty-two-show tour of America, the popular punk rock outfit will certainly be welcomed home.

The hard-working band has earned themselves a huge reputation as being one of the most engaging rock and roll punk acts in the country.

With six albums under their belt and having played not only America, but also in Europe and Asia their return home is much anticipated by local fans young and old.

Also in an effort to support and nurture local bands ‘Drunk Mums’ have asked three local bands to be their special guests, namely ‘Barefoot Belles’, ‘Zephrybees’ and Cairns High band ‘Grove Street’.

Tickets for all above shows can be purchased through www.ticketlink.com.au
